The place is nice and away from the city. The place is very rustic and cozy, great if you are looking for something that gets you away from technology. Rooms don’t have a tv and the internet is a little slow, but the grounds are beautiful. Come early for the wine, the bar closes early and staff isn’t around after it closes.

We stayed in the upper appartment. The place is beautiful, comfortable, quite, and clean. The kitchen is well equipped. The balcony overlooks a beautiful garden patio. The location is a short walking distance to Ashlands' center with its theaters, coffee shops and restaurants. Steve, our host, was welcoming, bery communicative and accessible. Our stay was perfect.

My son had stayed there before, his room seemed more updated than ours. The rate for our room was really high due to the fact that it was SOU’s graduation weekend, that was sort of a bummer to see the rate increase. I didn’t really like the self check in, especially when they had staff in the office available. You’re tired from traveling, I just want someone to check my id, hand me my room key, and send me on my way with a smile. Our room did not look like the “suite” we booked online at all. We had 3 adults in our room and there were exactly that many towels in our unit. You had to go to the office & request more. Our biggest issue was that our tv did not work correctly. We let the staff know, she gave us new batteries and said she would send someone down; that never happened. I told them again during checkout, so we did get a percentage off of our bill. That was nice. The pros: it was within walking distance to graduation, so that was very convenient. Cons: for what I paid, I would not book again, especially with tv not working during USA World Cup match & Knicks championship game airing.

The individual at the front desk was unpleasant and unhelpful to my wife on the morning of check out, and when I went down to fetch the items, she was in the same mood. Later in the morning at check out, her day had apparently not gotten any better with the progression of guests. On the high side, I enjoyed the use of the pool/hot tub area, but it did not appear to be cleaned overnight. I used the gym/work out space (they were quite strict about the time to go in), but again the place was not particularly clean, with cups and towels around, when I was the very first individual present in the morning. The breakfast helper was pleasant, and the food reasonably palatable. For novelty sake I tried the pancake making machine, perhaps version 2.0 will be more effective at actually completely cooking the pancakes. The vista was beautiful, and the setting sun against the mountains and trees while relaxing in the hot tub was almost Elizabethan magic (especially after A Midsummer's Night Dream).
